Cooking (Tradeskills Help)
The cooking tradeskill is used for combining various food ingredients
into marvelous recipes. To prevent you from making something quite awful,
ingredients may only be combined to form specific recipes. You will
be able to learn new recipes from cooking tradeskill trainers, usually
through asking them appropriate questions. For example, the baker in the
Shire farm can tell you some if you ask him about "recipe" a few times.
To use the cooking tradeskill, find yourself some cooking gear, a
campfire (or enter a well-equipped kitchen), and the ingredients necessary
for your recipe.
The syntax is as follows:
cook <ingredient 1>, <ingredient 2>, <etc>
Note that this is the same command as the one used to prepare meat
obtained from slain animal corpses. To differentiate between these uses
of 'cook', when you use at least two ingredients, the MUD will assume
that you are using the cooking tradeskill. When you use just one, it will
be interpreted as an attempt to use the regular cook command.
Unfortunately, there are a few 1-ingredient recipes for the cooking
tradeskill which can cause the syntax interpreter to become 'confused'.
You will still be able to use these, however you may not get proper fail
messages, for example about not having enough EP or not having a cooking
gear: you will most likely receive just "You can't cook that." We are
aware of the problem and will address it together with bigger changes
to the tradeskills in general. For now, you will have to bear with it
somehow; sorry for the inconvenience!
Some recipes require specific equipment, and will notify you if you
are lacking in that department.
Cooking takes a long time, and is an involved process. Most recipes
will take upwards of 10 rounds. Each round, you will receive a message
notifying you that you are still working on your recipe.
If you leave the room while cooking something, you will abandon it
and the product will be lost.
