Hobbit (Races Help)
Though they call themselves Hobbits, most others refer to this race
as 'Halflings' due to their diminutive stature - shorter than a dwarf.
They are known for their quietness and ability to move around without
being noticed, as well as for their massive appetites and potential for
mischief. While they are not very strong or know much about magic,
Hobbits are quick on their feet and have excellent aim. Being a simple
people, they often employ their skills as nimble thieves.
Hobbits take joy in simple pleasures: eating, celebrating minor
events, and smoking pipeweed (a practice that other races have begun
imitating). Some live in Breeland among the Big Folk, but most Hobbits
in Middle-earth can be found in the Shire, a rustic, peace-loving land
far from the battlefields of the South. While they are not formal
participants in the War abroad, four of their own took part in the
Council of Elrond and the rest do their part to keep their homes safe.
Hobbits speak the common tongue known as Westron.
