Uruk-hai (Races Help)

The Uruk-hai, "Orc-folk," are a special breed of orcs. Bred as shock troops, they are proportioned like their more common cousins, but nearly as tall as the Men they were engineered to fight. Correspondingly, they are stronger and hardier than the average orc, as well as slightly more intelligent, making them good warriors. Most importantly, they are able to operate unhindered in sunlight.

As a relatively recent race, Uruks appeared in TA 2475 to assist in the destruction of Osgiliath and the sacking of Ithilien. Since then, both Mordor and more recently Isengard have used Uruk-hai effectively to bolster and provide leadership to their rank-and-file orc infantry. They also serve in self-contained units, acting as brutal death squads apt at breaking lines and terrorizing enemy troops with their savagery.

Uruks speak the fragmented Orcish language, allowing them to better command their weaker brethren when brute force fails to get the message across.
