Regions (General Help)
The Two Towers allows players to take a direct hand in the war for
Middle-Earth. Any non-impartial kill within a region will affect the
region's status, as well as the status of the war itself. This will
in turn determine which side has the advantage at the end of each boot.
When enough enemies have been killed within a region, a battle will break
out. Scouts will report this event to anyone who is listening to their
reports, who are within the region or one of its surrounding neighbors.
At this time, new foes may begin to arrive in the area as word of the
battle spreads.
Once a battle has been decided, the region will either fall or be re-taken.
In certain circumstances, the conquering of a region may allow the victors
to move openly through areas previously blocked, or use services that were
previously refused to their side. Any such perks will be lost if the
region's original owners manage to rally and renew the battle.
When a region's status changes, its color on the 'warscape' and $X prompt
display will change as well:
HAR - FR occupied
HAR - ER occupied
HAR - Region is in dispute
A more detailed status report of a region may be obtained by requesting
a scout report.
Due to their nature, certain regions cannot fall. Though their status
will not change, any moral or evil kill made within their borders will
still count toward the overall war, as depicted in 'warscape'. These
regions are: West Arda, Far Harad, Mordor, Khazad-dum
At the end of each boot, the current status of the regions, as well as the
mudwide butcher's bill will be used to determine whether either side has
won a decisive victory for the day. Note, however, that while one side
may win the day, the war itself is only just beginning...
