General commands (Command Help)This help file briefly describes the "general" commands of the MUD;
they can be used anywhere and are not related to a particular room or
object.
- look, glance - These will be the two commands you will use most often
while playing. They let you examine your surroundings; "look"-ing
at things gives you their full description, while "glance"-ing will
show you the brief one. Note that you automatically "look" (or
"glance", depending on your brief setting) every time you enter a
new room.
- help, faq - Gives you access to the game help and documentation.
- hint - Lets you control and display in-game hints. Very useful for
new players!
- map - When you are on the main "grid" of the MUD, this helpful
command will display your surroundings as a rectangular map.
- rest - When low on HP (hit points), you may want to rest to regain
health faster. The only penalty of rest is that should you suddenly
enter combat while resting, you would receive "busy rounds".
- cease - Stops casting a spell or ceases a 'permanent' spell in
progress.
- quit, sleep - Makes your character leave the game; "sleep" is only
possible in certain locations.
- daytime - Tells you the current time of day in Arda.
- mission - Tells you about your guild mission, if you are in a guild.
- warscape - Displays a map of Arda, broken down by region, and
color-coded to depict which side currently controls each area.
- scout - Toggles on or off the receiving of automatic scout reports
when a region's war status changes. It may also be used to request
a more detailed report of a specific region's current state.
