The evasion skill controls how successful you will be when trying to
evade an attacker. With a low evasion skill you may manage to evade, but
it won't be for very long. This is a common skill and is used by every
player regardless of their profession. The skill is primarily used when
attacked by other players so unless your PvP flag is turned on it's better
to focus on other skills first.
