Mounted combat (Skills Help)

The tactical advantages of being on a mount in the midst of combat are immeasurable. A mount provides leverage as well as speed to a trained cavalryman. Mounted combat is the skill of maneuvering a mount to avoid and lessen the blow of a weapon, while at the same time increasing the effectiveness of yours. It also lets a skillful rider use their mount to trample their opponents. Riders who find themselves fighting on foot also utilize this skill to unseat mounted opponents. This is primarily a rider skill.

Due to the distance from your opponent while on horseback, only certain weapons can be used effectively from it. These weapons include: longsword, flail, mace, lance, spear, whip, warhammer, broom, mop, pike, club, scimitar, sabre and flamberge.

You can also effectively use bows while mounted; when you do so, your mounted combat skill will factor into the damage you do with your bow.
