Your character's awareness is his/her knowledge of the world, and just
general surroundings. It comes in handy for things like using the 'align'
command and detecting hidden players or things in a room with a search.
The higher your awareness skill is the harder it will be for thieves to
steal your gold undetected. The skill is also used in many quests that
check for it to see if you are able to detect this one special hidden door
or switch. Awareness is a common skill that all players will have
regardless of their profession, but it will only increase on its own when
you check the alignment of something. It is good to train this skill
early.
